Começa a época de prémios. Os Independent Spirit Awards são dos mais importantes e hoje a Film Independent anunciou os nomeados. Carol, Spotlight, Beast of No Nation e Anomalisa são os filmes que reúnem o maior número de nomeações.
Os Independent Spirit Awards são atribuídos desde 1984, no dia anterior ao dos Óscares. Nos últimos dois anos, foram certeiros quanto aos vencedores de Melhor Filme, que também venceriam o Óscar. Falamos de 12 Anos Escravo (2013, crítica aqui) e Birdman (2014, crítica aqui).
